There’s a trend of reducing art (which real people put blood, sweat and tears into making) into “content”, and treating that content as valueless except in aggregate.

However… the internet is full of flaky accounts that post part 1 of their “epic, 100 part series guys, I promise!” YouTube series and then just disappear, so I’m not surprised that there is a bit of a trend towards viewership wanting to watch things that are already marketed as “complete”. Your 150 game reviews is definitely a cool project, but let’s be real, 99% of people who make the review of game 1 get bored and move onto a new project.

So I think it’s actually two competing pressures. The first is the viewership demanding “finished” products to watch, and the second is the amount of energy creators have to give adequate time to any given project. Not to mention if you’re a person doing YouTube (or tiktok or whatever) as a fulltime job there’s the additional pressure of having to produce *something* new regularly, which I’m sure leads to half-baked videos, “content”-ifying the art they discuss.
