I've never been one to Platinum games, but I do often feel compelled to seek out any story or gameplay content that might be locked to second or third playthroughs, and sometimes I think that compulsion hurts my memory of the game in the long run *and* has a negative effect on the way I approach future games. Games where I know there will be multiple branching paths and one "true ending" that requires a lot of work to get to can feel a bit like a grind if viewed from the perspective of "I have to *beat* the game X number of times to get all the content." But perhaps the healthier way to look at it is, "This game has a variety of interesting stories, and I want to keep playing it will provide something fresh for a future me when I'm ready."
