Sigh. After giving it all that, you go and betray me like this! 🙂

That' being said . . . I am buying it physically anyway because I'm a nerd and I want a box with Tracer on it on my PC games shelf.

Yes, you can only play it online. There are physical disc-based copies available for both PC and consoles, but in this case, since it's an online-only game, I use "pick up a copy" to mean "buy a digital version"; as my friend Chris pointed out, in a game like this, which is regularly updated and expanded over time, there's little point buying a disc-based version because it will be obsolete after the first major update.

Or is it a case of doing both? That's what it sounds like on a second read-through. 😀

I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to check out the demo (aka. "beta") but I was so busy with work and stuff.
Assuming my computer could handle it, I think I'd go with PC for Overwatch. TF2 and Diablo 3 have shown me that console doesn't make alot of sense for games like this. My concept of what a "console" game has been made a tad obsolete by games like Destiny and the persistently on, update friendly structure of the PS4, but I still believe that games with a persistent online-only play style, and a content cycle that depends on frequent patches and updates belong on the computer. Physical copies are a joke for titles like this because the game you're playing 2 weeks after release isn't the one on the disc anyway. Any I'd be very surprised if gamepad control wasn't an options in the PC version, given the current nature of the PC market.
