1) it's okay to leave a girl doing nothing, especially to collect recourses. The girls aren't paid for any hours where they're left "waiting…" only for hours where they're doing an activity. If a girl does nothing for any amount of hours for the day, those are hours you don't pay her(so not exactly dead weight, as it doesn't weigh you down, especially if you need to recover income. Moreover, if you don't finish collecting relevant resources before you put a girl to a job you're setting yourself up to reap a noticeably smaller reward than you would if you'd finished collecting first, i.e. if you collect a girls freshly earned talent points to upgrade her talent level before sending her to do a show you'll see a huge difference in how much money that show will bring in, but if you send a girl to do a show before collecting her talent points and she isnt leveled up that's a whole show and however many hours where she's making less than what she's worth and if you collect those points after she's in the show it's even worse because you still have to pay her more to reflect her new skill level
