To be more clear, hydrate often with water, sports drinks (for the electrolytes) or even medical hydrating solution (that you mix with water) if all else fails. Soda, manufactured sweet things and caffeinated things will only dry you out and possibly make you run to the toilet more often.

Gah, sorry for being a worrywart. Had gastroenteritis a few times, it's utterly miserable, and similar to what you may be going through, if that's actually what the "bum-AIDS" is, though I hope it isn't. … but hydrate with the right things and you'll be better much sooner.
