I hope you can avoid, ignore or laugh at these assholes. And, well… people tend to be extremely lazy when it comes to fact-checking. One bad example tars the whole community, and a highly-placed Google result makes things awkward to explain. The idiots are the price we really pay for 'net access, sadly.

Perfectly articulated the very reason I spend less and less time on the areas of the internet that are home to the great unwashed. It's a shame that the internet, a medium that can be so liberating for people, is home to the same garbage trappings of a high school yard.

But I do take solace in the fact that one day these people may have to feel incredibly sheepish when retracting dramatic statements made on the internet after learning the facts, which you rightly point out, they blatantly ignore.

I am sick of this constantly being an issue, and I'm really disappointed in the people I saw joining the throng today without even bothering to do some basic fact-checking. As you quite rightly said on Twitter, stuff like this is exactly why "social justice warrior" has become a pejorative term. I don't want anything to do with it.
