Ah, fair enough. Yeah, it does suck. I think the first remasters were done on LD, they were the sources for the better sounding, er… acquisitions of the anime. 🙂 Heh, feel old for remembering that.

I live in the UK where we're not allowed to have nice things like Sailor Moon box sets, so the collection of episodes I have was acquired through, err, alternative means. I'm guessing they're rips from the same original copies, though there's the odd episode here and there with noticeably better sound quality.

It's not enough to spoil it; it just makes it sound a whole lot older than it really is!

In Japan, there have already been re-masters of the series that sound quite amazing in comparison. Unfortunately, the companies that made this English sub version didn't want to shell out the money for those versions in the DVD set. I turned up the bass some and turned down the treble some, made it easier to listen to.
