I liked Freelancer a lot, actually. It just never quite captured that whole "exploration" feeling for me. Great combat, though.

That game is THE reference space title. I haven't played it, but it get's name-dropped a lot. And I agree with you on Star Trek Online. It's a great space game, but not a lot of exploration is involved.
